really?!

in honor of my sister in law chrissy...this is my really wednesday. So like i said in my previous post we have a new dog. he is super cute but the potty training thing isn't going well. he did really good for the first few days we had him...we even managed to make it for 3 days without an accident in the house and he was letting us know he needed to go by going to the back door and sitting in front of it. i was thinking wow he is really smart and its not going to take long to train him he is already doing great! But then for some reason he started to have quite a bit of accidents in the house. So we have been kennel training him(well trying to) going by the books and leaving him in his kennel for a few hours then letting him out and taking him directly outside to take care of business well...my wonderful puppy refuses to go outside now when we take him..he just sits there and lays down or stares at us and i tell him to "go potty" and he just sits there for like 15-20 minutes. so after that i figure well if he hasn't gone yet he probably doesn't need to go. OH NO he does because within seconds of getting back inside he starts peeing and im just thinking to myself REALLY?! this is happening everyday since those 3 days of no accidents. So after the accident i put him back in the kennel because your not supposed to yell or put their nose up to the mess you're just supposed to say "no" sternly so he doesn't fear you. but i think by leaving him in the kennel its making him hyper and starting to bite..today he got a hold of my hand when i tried to pet him and held on for dear life. i was like really?! what do i do if i keep him in the kennel he bites if i don't he pee's all over in the house.... i know it hasn't been that long since we got him and these things don't happen over night but still...I'm kinda frustrated about it. if anyone has any advice feel free to share.

  1. Oh yikes. That doesn't sound like fun at all! It's a good thing he's cute. :) Oh, and I LOVE the idea of "Really?! Wednesdays." That's awesome.

  2. hmm... i remember when we were training my beloved simmie (love you sim sim!) my mom would stick her nose in it and tell her no, and sometimes slap a newspaper in front of her. it sounds really sad, but the whole fear thing, simmie loved my mom more than anyone. tough love i guess. i hope i dont take my own advice when i potty train rachael, but i don't think dogs react to the reward of stickers like a 2 year old would... p.s. we will DEFINITELY hang out next week!! promise, but i don't promise it will be with rachael :)
