Rachaels Baby Shower
If you can't guess the theme is
Camo
Hunting and Fishing
This is what the invitations looked like

It was just an open house because we invited and expected a lot of family we didn't have as many as we hoped for but it was still a lot fun. All the food was centered around the theme we had Swedish fish, cake balls dipped in green and brown chocolate, I got 2 Costco size bags of m&m's and sorted out the green and the brown ones. We also had these really cute animal cupcakes (refer to collage 2 below) oh and there was chips and salsa and some really yummy meatballs. To drink we just had water but I put some limes in the water because they were green and they went a long with everything. For decorations we had some really cute stuff that we gave to Rachael as baby gifts. I found some really cute camo bibs and put those along with a vase of green flowers and some blocks that said baby on them because Rachael didn't have a name for the baby at the time on the gift table. I along with assistance from my mom made a really cute blanket it was camo print on one side and just the black minx stuff on the other side. There also was a fabulous (if I do say so myself) diaper cake that had some really cute camo shoes on the top of the diaper cake. All in all the shower turned out really well it was a big hit.

These are the cupcakes I did for the shower. I think they turned out pretty cute. The squirrels were made of a regular size cupcake a mini cupcake and a cookie in an "S" shape for the tail. I made about 8 or so of them but they all survive the trip from my house to the church where we had it. Luckily we had a lot of reindeer and fish cupcakes to compensate for them. On the fish cupcakes the actual fish are goldfish crackers and I just used a leaf frosting tip to frost the seaweed on the side. For the reindeer it was just mini twisted pretzels that I broke and used those for the antlers and marshmallows for the eyes and mouth. I wanted the cupcakes to resemble hunting and fishing game and I think they worked out well.

my own personal car pillow

I didn't realize when i got the dog that i would have my own personal car pillow too. its cracks me up too because i don't put him up there. Whenever we get in the car or even when we're just sitting at home on the couch he will crawl up me on one side and just rest on the back of my neck so i will have his head on one side of my head and his but on the other its hilarious! i cant say its extremely comfortable for me but he looks so cute and funny up there. (oh and ignore the nasty picture of me i had just come from the gym)

really?!

in honor of my sister in law chrissy...this is my really wednesday. So like i said in my previous post we have a new dog. he is super cute but the potty training thing isn't going well. he did really good for the first few days we had him...we even managed to make it for 3 days without an accident in the house and he was letting us know he needed to go by going to the back door and sitting in front of it. i was thinking wow he is really smart and its not going to take long to train him he is already doing great! But then for some reason he started to have quite a bit of accidents in the house. So we have been kennel training him(well trying to) going by the books and leaving him in his kennel for a few hours then letting him out and taking him directly outside to take care of business well...my wonderful puppy refuses to go outside now when we take him..he just sits there and lays down or stares at us and i tell him to "go potty" and he just sits there for like 15-20 minutes. so after that i figure well if he hasn't gone yet he probably doesn't need to go. OH NO he does because within seconds of getting back inside he starts peeing and im just thinking to myself REALLY?! this is happening everyday since those 3 days of no accidents. So after the accident i put him back in the kennel because your not supposed to yell or put their nose up to the mess you're just supposed to say "no" sternly so he doesn't fear you. but i think by leaving him in the kennel its making him hyper and starting to bite..today he got a hold of my hand when i tried to pet him and held on for dear life. i was like really?! what do i do if i keep him in the kennel he bites if i don't he pee's all over in the house.... i know it hasn't been that long since we got him and these things don't happen over night but still...I'm kinda frustrated about it. if anyone has any advice feel free to share.

Meet Bruno

This is our new dog Bruno! He is part shih-tzu part maltese. When we were on our way home from visiting zane and rachael we made an unexpected stop in cedar and picked bruno up. I had no idea we were picking him up. shandon kept it from me for quite a while he apparently made a trip up to cedar without me knowing a few days before our trip and bought him and they kept him until we were coming home from taylorsville. He is the cutest little puppy. He loves to play with anyone that will play with him. My parents have a maltese named jack who is a year and a half now and bruno gave him a run for his money. He kept trying to to tackle jack to the ground and jack kept running away from him it was hilarious. We love him. Thanks shandon for bruno you're the best husband ever!

Salt lake trip

Shandon and i went on a trip up to taylorsville to hang out with my sister in law rachael and her husband zane. rachael is doing student teaching up there and her husband for lack of a better way of putting it is pretty much suffering through it. So we went up to hang out with them. We went ice skating at the olympic oval rink in kearns and it was a blast. I haven't been ice skating in a forever and after how long it had been i didn't fall once. my husband knocked me over but i don't count that because if it wasn't for him it wouldn't of happened. after ice skating we went to sportsmans warehouse and cabella's to look for a hiking backpack for rachael then we went to ikea. i had never been there before and its probably my new favorite store. anyways we had a blast thanks rachael and zane for hanging out with us!

Valentines Day

Well with Valentines day being on a sunday i decided that i would make dinner for shandon on saturday night. I decorated the table with rose petals, and made tequilla sunrises without the tequilla and coconut shrimp and rice.

I also made breakfast for him on valentines day morning. We had french toast with strawberries and cream

Also shandon has had to put up with me asking for a dog for quite some time now....so i was really excited when he gave me some roses and a dog collar for valentines day. I was really excited that i had finally talked him into getting one and we could start looking. It was a good valentines day!

My sister in law whitney threw a "paw-ty" for him. all the snacks were in dog bowls, we had dog bone cookies and whitney and i made puppy cupcakes. We also made his birthday cake in the shape of a dog bone. Too bad he wasn't as excited about the cake as we all were but oh well. Everything turned out way cute!

Christmas 2009

For christmas this year shandon and i tried to spend time with both families since both our families live here in town. We had a christmas eve dinner with my familiy and after that we went to shandon's families house and as you can see from the pictures above we decorated gingerbread houses and reinacted the christmas story. mine and shandon's gingerbread house was a two story with two bedrooms and a bathroom. Sara my sister in law built a transformers gingerbread house it actually turned out pretty kewl. She won the kewlest gingerbread house prize this year. Shandon and I played the part of Joseph and Mary in the christmas story this year so i got to pretend that i was pregnant by shoving a pillow underneath my robe and i ended up looking like i was eight months pregnant with triplets. Tamron my brother in law got the lovely role of one of the angels and as you can see he took his part very seriously. On christmas day we opened presents with shandons family then went and opened gifts with my family. We later came back to my family's house to have a chrismas dinner and as you can also see from the pictures(keep in mind that it was christmas day and so i didnt get ready but i had to document my first turkey) i made the turkey. It was the first time i had ever cooked a turkey and i will have to say it turned out pretty well.
